Famiglia Cecchi Wine

La Mora Morellino di Scansano DOCG Cecchi

KSh5,500

Grown in the Morellino di Scansano appellation within the Maremma region of southern Tuscany, this wine showcases the unique qualities of its terroir.

The vineyards are situated on predominantly sandy soils with some clay content, offering excellent drainage and ideal conditions for cultivating the Sangiovese grape variety.

Sangiovese vines are planted at high densities to encourage root competition, resulting in lower yields and more concentrated fruit. Sustainable viticultural practices, including green harvesting, are employed to ensure optimal grape maturity.

During vinification, the hand-harvested grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the skins is carefully monitored to extract the desired levels of color, structure, and aromatics. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 12 months in a combination of French and Slavonian oak barrels, followed by several months of bottle aging before release.

Color: Vibrant ruby red with garnet hues.

Bouquet: Intense aromas of ripe red berries, such as cherries and plums, accompanied by notes of spice, dried herbs and a subtle oakiness.

Taste: Medium-bodied with a smooth, silky texture. Flavors of red fruits, baking spices and a touch of vanilla are supported by well-integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity, leading to a long, satisfying finish.

This versatile Sangiovese-based red wine pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, from grilled meats and roasted vegetables to pasta with tomato-based sauces and aged cheeses.
